‘Bangabandhu Shiksha Bima’ has been introduced on the occasion of National Insurance Day. On the occasion of the day, IDRA has introduced this insurance with its own funds. The insurance was launched at the inaugural ceremony of National Insurance Day at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Monday (March 1). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present at the virtual function from Ganobhaban.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal distributed Bangabandhu Education Insurance among four students on the occasion. A total of 50,000 students are being given this Bangabandhu education insurance.
It is learned that parents can insure Bangabandhu education for 3 to 16 year olds. For this you have to pay an annual premium of 75 rupees. If a parent dies for any reason after taking Bangabandhu education insurance policy, the child will get 500 rupees monthly for 18 years.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized on a massive campaign to motivate the people to expand insurance in the country. At the same time, he urged the insurance companies to give priority to the interests of the customers in providing services. He said insurance is a service profession. Public and private insurance companies need to work together with the regulatory authorities to give the highest priority to the interests of the customer as well as to make it popular and reach the doorsteps of the people. He directed the insurance companies to make the people aware about their insurance with information so that the people can avail the benefits by opening insurance policies in times of crisis.

“You need to run a wider campaign to make people aware of the need for insurance,” he said.
Today, National Insurance Day-2021 is being celebrated all over the country with the motto of ‘Promise of Mujib Year, let there be insurance for all’.
The great embodiment of independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman joined Alpha Insurance Company on March 1, 1960 with insurance as his profession. To commemorate this day, the government observes National Insurance Day on March 1 every year.
On this day, four eminent persons were honored for their significant contribution in the insurance sector. On behalf of the Prime Minister, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal handed over the crest of honor to four eminent persons.
Mustafa Kamal, senior secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions. Asadul Islam delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Besides, Bangladesh Insurance Association President Sheikh Kabir Hossain was virtually involved in the event. A documentary on the insurance sector was also screened at the event.
