The government has decided to open schools and colleges from March 30. This decision has been taken after reviewing the overall situation of coronavirus. The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Cabinet Room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Saturday (February 27) evening.
At the end of the inter-ministerial meeting, the Minister of Education said. Dipu Moni.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture. Abdur Razzak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education. Zakir Hossain participated.
Besides, cabinet secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, senior secretary of public security department Mustafa Kamal Uddin, secretary of secondary and higher education department Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Department of Health. Abdul Mannan, Secretary of the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education. Aminul Islam Khan, Cabinet Secretary (Coordination and Reform) said. Kamal Hossain, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Health. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam and other concerned officials participated in the meeting.
Educational institutions have been closed since March 18 after the first coronavirus patient was identified in the country on March 6 last year. After that, the ongoing leave of the educational institution has been extended step by step till tomorrow 28th February.
Speaking at a press briefing on the same day, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, “The government has decided to preview the environment for opening (educational institutions).” We will have a meeting in five or six days. It will be an inter-ministerial meeting. ‘Meanwhile, students from different universities started a movement to return to the hall. In some places, when the lock of the students is broken, the incident of admission also happens. In this situation, on 22 February, the Minister of Education announced that the teaching activities of the universities will start from 24 May.
