After Eid-ul-Fitor, classes of all universities including public and private will start on May 24. A week before this, the residential halls of the universities will be opened from May 17. Among them, all the students and teachers of the universities will be brought under the corona vaccine.
Today, Monday (February 22) in a virtual press conference, the Minister of Education announced. Dipu Moni.
The minister said the online classes of the universities will continue till May 24. There will be no university exams during this period. The halls have not been used for a long year. Therefore, instructions have been given to renovate the halls of the universities by May 16.
However, the education minister did not say anything about schools, colleges and madrasas.
Earlier, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters at a press briefing that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed the concerned people, including the education ministry, to review whether the educational institutions were open soon. A meeting will be held in 5 to 7 days. He said a decision on opening the university’s dormitory hall would be taken in 5-6 days considering the safety of students.
He added that the Prime Minister has formed a committee to open educational institutions. They will decide on this.
The secretary said the government is sincere in this regard. However, the issue of safety of students is being given importance, said the cabinet secretary.
Students of Rajshahi University have postponed the ongoing agitation demanding opening of residential halls and campuses till next Wednesday. They made the decision from the pre-announced program after Proctor’s assurance around 12:30 pm on Monday.
Hundreds of students of the central library gathered around 11:30 pm today. There they were preparing for today’s program. Later, Proctor Lutfar Rahman appeared there. He assured the students to speak at the highest level of administration on the issue. The students postponed the day’s program.
Students there told reporters they had been off campus for a long time. The economic condition of many of them has deteriorated due to corona. As a result, it is no longer possible for them to stay in the mess. They want to go back to the classroom.
